Web Design in Lagos and the Western Algarve
A web designer down the road, not a ticket number in Lisbon.
Digital Rogues is run by Frankie from Barão de São Miguel, between Lagos and Vila do Bispo. Most of the businesses we meet locally sit within half an hour of here: Lagos, Luz, Burgau, Salema, Vila do Bispo, Sagres and up the west coast to Aljezur. If that is you, we can sit down together over a coffee, walk round your premises, look at the photos you already have and agree what the website needs to do before anyone opens a design file.
This page is for businesses in that corner of Portugal. If you are elsewhere in the region, our Algarve web design page covers how we work across the whole Algarve and with clients abroad.
A good fit if
- You run a surf school, tour, boat trip or activity business between Lagos and Aljezur
- You let villas or holiday apartments and want more bookings to come direct
- You run a yoga, retreat, therapy or wellness business and want a site that feels like the place
- You run a restaurant, café or trade business and need locals and visitors to find you on Google
- You would rather talk to someone face to face than through a support ticket
Probably not us if
- You want a site live in a week in July: in season we will usually suggest small fixes now and a rebuild in the autumn
- You only need a listing with opening hours and a phone number: a well-kept Google Business Profile may be enough for now

Why a local web designer still matters
Plenty of website work can be done remotely, and most of ours is. But small businesses in the western Algarve tend to have the same problems, and they are easier to understand in person: the surf school whose meeting point moves with the tide and the swell, the villa owner whose bookings are split between three platforms and a WhatsApp group, the restaurant that is packed in August and half-empty in February.
Meeting face to face also makes the practical parts quicker. We can look at your existing site on your own phone, in your own signal, and see what customers actually see. We can agree which photos are worth using and which need reshooting. And when the site launches, the handover is a conversation at a table, not a PDF of instructions.
The businesses we work with around Lagos
Surf schools, tour and activity operators. From the beaches around Lagos and Luz to the west coast beaches near Sagres and Aljezur, activity businesses live on bookings made from a phone, often the day before. They need a clear page for each experience and a booking path that works on one bar of signal. Our surf school and tour operator websites page goes into detail.
Villas, holiday apartments and rentals. Owners here often rely on Airbnb and Booking.com for most of their guests. A good direct website will not replace those overnight, but it gives repeat guests and referrals somewhere to book without platform fees. See holiday rental websites for how we approach it, and the Stay West case study: a direct booking website for two villas near Burgau and Luz, with enquiry booking and village guides.
Wellness, yoga and retreats. The coast between Lagos and Sagres attracts retreats and practitioners who need a site that feels calm and still makes booking simple. We built the rebrand and website for Mandala Sagres, a retreat space in Sagres.
Restaurants, cafés and trades. For these businesses the website usually supports Google rather than the other way round: an accurate menu or list of services, opening hours that change with the season, a map, and a simple way to call or book.
English and Portuguese, done properly
Around Lagos your customers are a mix of Portuguese residents, foreign residents and visitors from across Europe. Most businesses need at least English and Portuguese. That means real translated pages at their own addresses, not a translate button: search engines can only rank text that is actually on the page, and Portuguese speakers notice machine translation immediately.
You rarely need every page in both languages on day one. We usually start with the pages that sell (home, services or experiences, prices, contact) and add the rest over time. Our guide to bilingual websites for Algarve businesses explains the details.
Local search: being found in Lagos, not just in Portugal
People search for very local things: lessons at a named beach, a restaurant in Luz, a plumber in Lagos, a villa near Salema. To show up, your website needs pages that mention the places you actually serve, written for people rather than stuffed with keywords, and your Google Business Profile needs to match what the website says.
We set up the technical basics on every site (unique titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap, and pages that load fast on mobile) and help you get your Business Profile in order. Our guide to Google Business Profile for Algarve tourism businesses covers what to do yourself.
Timing around the season
The best time to rebuild a website in the western Algarve is between October and March, so it is live and indexed before Easter. If you come to us in the middle of summer, we will usually suggest a few targeted fixes now and plan the bigger work for the quieter months.
After launch, our website care and hosting keeps the site updated, backed up and online, and covers the small edits that come up through the year, such as new seasonal hours or a winter menu. When you are ready, get in touch and we will arrange a time to meet.

Questions we get asked
Can we meet in person?
Yes. We are based in Barão de São Miguel and can meet you in Lagos, Luz, Burgau, Salema, Vila do Bispo, Sagres and Aljezur, at your premises or somewhere nearby. Calls work too if that is easier.
Do you build websites in Portuguese and English?
Yes, as separate translated pages with the correct hreflang markup, so search engines show each visitor the right language. We recommend a human translation, at least for the pages that sell.
Can you help with my Google Business Profile?
Yes. We make sure your profile and website agree on your name, address, hours, services and booking link, and explain how to keep the profile active through the year.
Do you only work with businesses in Lagos?
No. This page is for the western Algarve, but we work across the whole Algarve and with clients in other countries. Most of that work is remote.
How much does a website cost?
It depends on the pages, languages and features you need, so we quote per project after a conversation rather than publishing a price list. Tell us what you need and we will send a clear quote.
