Wellness & Therapist Websites

Websites for Therapists, Wellness Clinics and Retreats

Calm design, plain explanations and one clear first step.

People land on a therapist's or clinic's website in a different state of mind from a shopper. They are often anxious, unsure whether this kind of help is for them, and quick to back away from anything that feels like a sales pitch. The site still has to explain your approach, set out the ways people can work with you, and make the first step feel easy.

We design and build websites for therapists, practitioners, aesthetics clinics and retreat brands. Our work includes a systemic therapist in the Algarve, an aesthetics clinic in Bristol, a surf-and-yoga retreat and a coastal retreat space in Sagres. The details vary, but the principles that work are consistent, and we explain them below.

A good fit if

  • You run a one-person practice or small clinic and the website does not sound like you
  • Visitors do not understand what you do before they have to decide whether to contact you
  • You offer several formats (one-to-one sessions, programmes, retreats, treatments) and they blur together
  • You want a first conversation or consultation booked straight into your calendar

Probably not us if

  • You need a regulated patient portal or clinical records system: that needs a specialist healthcare vendor
  • You want a high-pressure sales funnel with countdown timers: that is not how we build for this sector

What is included

Design that slows people down

Your own photography, generous space and a palette drawn from your work, not stock images of smiling people on sofas.

One primary action

A single, consistent next step (usually a consultation) repeated on every page and booked straight into your calendar.

Plain-language explanations

What your approach is and what happens in a first session, before you ask for anything.

Clear service structure

Sessions, programmes, retreats or treatments set out side by side, with prices where you choose to show them.

Your own voice

Copy written in the first person where it suits, so visitors are choosing a person, not a logo.

Search foundations

Titles, descriptions and headings written around how people look for help, locally and online.

One clear next step on every page

When we built Body Portal for Ana de Macedo, a systemic therapist in the Algarve who also works online, the most important structural decision was that every page ends in the same place: book a free 30-minute consultation, which opens her booking calendar. That button sits in the header on desktop and appears through each page. Visitors who prefer to ask a question first can write to her from the contact page, offered as a quiet alternative rather than a competing goal.

When a page asks people to call, email, follow on Instagram, join a newsletter and book, most do none of them. We explain why in why your website is not generating leads.

Explain the work before you ask for anything

Many approaches are not something visitors search for with confidence. On the Body Portal site, a dedicated page explains systemic therapy and walks through what happens in a session, and the homepage repeats it in miniature as a simple pathway. A first-time visitor knows what will happen before they book, which takes a lot of anxiety out of making contact.

Clinics need the same clarity. For Sculpt Skin, an aesthetics clinic in Bristol offering subtle enhancements with natural results, each treatment is presented with detailed information so potential clients understand what to expect before they book a consultation online. The design is refined and calm, matching the clinic's approach.

Retreats need to feel concrete

Retreats are a considered purchase, often booked months ahead by people who have never been to the place. The site has to make the experience concrete enough that people can picture themselves there. For Sister Space Retreats, which combines surf, yoga and connection on the Algarve coast, we organised the itinerary, pricing, facilitator information and practical details so guests can decide with confidence, then made securing a place simple.

For Mandala Sagres, a wellness and retreat space on the Algarve coast, the job started earlier: a complete brand identity (logo, colour palette, typography and visual language) before a custom website showing the retreat offerings, accommodation and the Sagres location.

Being open about prices

There is no rule, but for considered services, publishing prices usually helps. On the Body Portal site, single sessions, session packs, group programmes and retreats are all set out with prices shown. Visitors who can see the cost arrive at the first call already comfortable with it, and those for whom it does not fit can move on without an awkward exchange.

Whatever you decide, the page should make clear how each option starts, which for most practitioners is a short first conversation. Our guide to SEO basics for small businesses covers the search side.

Questions we get asked

What should a therapist's website include?

At minimum: a clear explanation of how you work and who it is for, what a first session looks like, your services (with prices or a starting point if you are comfortable), an about page in your own voice and one easy way to book a first conversation.

Can clients book a consultation directly from the site?

Yes. We connect your booking calendar so a visitor can pick a time without emailing back and forth, as on the Body Portal site.

Can you build a wellness website in English and Portuguese?

Yes. Many practitioners in Portugal work with both local and international clients, and we build properly translated pages rather than a translate widget.

Do you also do branding?

Yes, when it is needed. For Mandala Sagres we created the full brand identity before designing the website. Often a refresh of an existing brand is enough.

Do you work with practitioners outside Portugal?

Yes. Sculpt Skin is in Bristol, and most of our work is remote. See web design and development for how projects run.
